How to get your mind right

by | May 25, 2026

Business can be super stressful.

Here’s how to stay calm and happy.

Use the BALL technique.

It’s brilliant for any executive or entrepreneur who’s feeling under pressure and wants to feel strong and in command, quickly.

BALL is an acronym for a for step process that’s incredibly powerful,

B is for Breathe.

Do 10 deep, slow breaths. This activates your parasympathetic nervous system and immediately reduces your stress levels. ( Breathing is one of the primary calming techniques the elite US Delta Force commandos use when things are getting difficult emotionally.)

A is for Affirmations.

Take control of your self talk and repeat several positive, directive sentences, telling your brain how to behave.

For example, “You’ve got this’, “You can do it”, ” You are calm and productive “,” You are unstoppable “, “Easy day”.

L is for Look back.

Think of other times in the past where you performed well under similar pressure. Other times when you overcame similar difficulties. Other times when you were strong and effective.

L is for Look forward.

Finish by taking a couple of minutes to see things in your mind going well in the near future. Literally imagining it.

See that important meeting you’re worried about going well. That relationship issue that’s got you stressed being positively resolved. See yourself winning over adversity. See yourself succeeding.

I mentor numerous high level executives and founders and I can tell you 2 things for sure.

1. You’re not alone. It’s really common for top people in business to feel down and stressed regularly.

2. The BALL technique will help you feel better fast.
